Our People
Behind the Master Plan with Micheal Farrelly
Apr 16, 2025

We are interviewing Micheal Farrelly today, our Occupational Health & Safety Manager - the person that makes sure our workplace is always a safe and healthy work environment for our employees.
How long have you worked at JG King Homes for:
I started working with JG King Homes at the start of 2025. So I have been working at JG King Homes for around 4 months now. Early stages, but I am loving what I am seeing and experiencing so far!
What does a typical day at work look like:
The Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) role is very adhoc and random - where some days we are behind the desk working on future projects and documentation and then we have our adventures out on site where we are working with trades, suppliers and our teams to make sure our sites are as safe as possible for everyone.
What led you to working in this role:
At a previous employer I worked for, I had someone in my team who was severely hurt. The business did not know what to do, and there was absolutely no support for the worker. From there, I decided that I wanted to study OHS myself to learn about worker rights and what a business should to support their workers. The career has just grown from that point!
Greatest achievement in your career:
I don't think there is one particular moment, but I really enjoy building a strong culture, particularly in safety, where you can see people buying into the culture, being proactive, and learning about safety - which is where we strive for this business to be.
What does home mean to you:
Home is a safe place. Where you can be yourself, away from judgtement and leave external troubles at the door. I'm blessed to have a young family and home to me means a lot of fun and love.
Describe your dream forever home:
I'm a simple person so the home wouldn't be too spectacular. I can definitely see myself down by the beach on some acreage with a full-time landscaper/cleaner so I can get in a surf and enjoy the views! Maybe even enough land where the kids can build on the same land, a few hundred metres away and we can catch them grow and build a family of their own.'
