We are talking with Ryan Murphy today, our Chief Information Officer, the person that sets the direction for our technology and systems to make sure JG King Homes and our customers information are stored safely and able to grow efficiently.

How long have you worked at JG King Homes for:

I joined the business in September 2025, so I'm still in my early days with the business, coming in with fresh eyes to see what we can improve on and what we are doing well.

What does a typical day at work look like:

What I love most about being CIO (Chief Information Officer) is that every day is different. I spend my time working with various teams across the business, solving challenges, setting the direction of our technology and systems strategy, and making sure that our systems and cybersecurity help JG King Homes grow safely and efficiently.

What led you to working in the home building industry:

With my father being a carpenter, I've always had a natural interest in home construction. Pairing that with the opportunity to streamline and improve systems and technology, I see great potential to change the way homes are built more efficiently.

What's your favourite part of seeing a home come together:

Watching the transformation from design to a finished home and knowing the technology behind the scene plays a role in delivering that outcome for families is everything that makes it worth the effort.

Greatest achievement in your career:

Taking on a global role as Global Head of Infrastructure, overseeing 46 country locations and giving my family the opportunity to relocate and experience life in London.

If you could trade jobs with anyone for a day, who would it be:

I'd step into Geoffrey Hinton's shoes - the 'Godfather of AI'. His pioneering work on neural networks laid the foundation for modern artificial intelligence, and today he's helping shape the global conversation about both its potential and its risks. Experiencing that blend of innovation and responsibility first-hand would be extraordinary.

What does home mean to you:

To me, home is comfort, safety and belonging - a place where family and friends always feel welcome.

Describe your dream forever home:

A modern sustainable home with smart technology, open-plan living, and dedicated spaces for my passions - a high-end cinema and a quiet room for listening to vinyl.
