Behind the Master Plan with Michael Fekete

We are interviewing Michael Fekete today, our Product Development Manager, the person that oversees the drawings of our homes to make sure they are up to the JG King Homes standard.
 

How long have you worked at JG King Homes for:

I have worked at JG King Homes for one and a half years now. It has been a fulfilling 1.5 years with JG King Homes to drive efficiency and outcomes that are up to JG King Homes standard, and hopefully we can keep working together to keep improving!

What does a typical day at work look like:

Overseeing the end-to-end coordination of master releases, from initial design concept through to final distribution across the business. This includes ensuring the production drafting team is equipped with the optimal tools and resources to execute their work efficiently and accurately. Additionally, I manage the sequencing and quality assurance of display home drawings to guarantee they are developed to the highest standards of precision and excellence.

What led you to working in the home building industry:

My journey began with a deep passion for architecture and design, but over the years, I've developed a strong interest in solving business challenges and building effective processes. I'm driven by the opportunity to streamline operations and deliver efficient, high-impact outcomes that support broader business goals.

What's your favourite part of seeing a home come together:

Seeing a home come together is most rewarding when the vision becomes a reality - watching each detail that was initially just a vision from everyone in the business turning into a place something people will truly live in and enjoy.

Greatest achievement in your career:

My greatest achievement was when I joined a start-up and built an entire department from the ground up - establishing master files, processes, checklists, and detailed documentation. Successfully scaled operations to 40 site starts per month within 18 months, while also assembling and leading an exceptional team of skilled drafters.

What does home mean to you:

To me, home is more than just a physical space - it's a feeling. 
It's where comfort, safety, and belonging come together. It's the place where you can truly be yourself, surrounded by the people and things that matter most. Whether it's filled with laughter, quiet moments or even a bit of chaos, home is where life happens, and memories are made.

Describe your dream forever home:

My dream forever home is a self sufficient farm - off-grid, solar-powered, with veggie gardens, fruit trees, and a few animals. It's peaceful, practical, and deeply connected to nature. A place to live simply, grow my own food, and enjoy the rhythm of the land.
