How to get the Hamptons look in your home
Mar 05, 2021
Since you can’t get away right now, why not bring the vacay vibes home? At JG King Homes, we’ve always been fans of chic Hamptons style, from the rustic white timbers to ocean-inspired blues. So much so that we decorated our Brunswick 302 display home at Merrifield Estate with the luxury seaside community in mind. Now, here is how you can create the Hamptons look in your home.
1. Seaside shades
Opt for a light and airy palette of soft blues and seafoam greens, mixed with plenty of natural textures for a cosy, relaxed feel in every room. Pile up the cushions and throws in natural linen and cotton, while adding touches of rattan and jute.
2. Feeling fishy
The geometric zig-zag pattern known as herringbone takes its name from the Atlantic herring fish, due to its resemblance to its skeleton. Given these oceanic roots, it is no surprise it appears on floors and tiled splashbacks in every Hamptons-styled home, including in our kitchen in Brunswick.
3. White on white
Style white-on-white in various textures to mimic the white mansions along the Hamptons coastline. For Brunswick, we layered white stone benchtops with white timber cabinetry and white tiles for a clean, crisp look.
4. Balance modern and rustic
Create a cosy escape with the perfect mix of polished wall panelling and rustic timber furnishings. The combination maintains a sense of warmth and luxury.
5. Keep it classic
When it comes to lighting, opt for classically designed fittings and fixtures. Nautical-inspired glass lamps, for example, elevate beach shack styling to a luxurious Hamptons look.
6. Go coastal
Choose wall art and accessories that pay tribute to the coast. Coral, shells, or nautical clocks, for example, nod to the sea to tie all the design elements together.
