Regional Development Minister Jaclyn Symes Visit to the Project Windows & Doors Factory

On Wednesday, the 23rd of July 2025, The Project Windows and Doors Factory in Wendouree welcomed the Minister for Regional Development Jaclyn Symes alongside other guests and media representatives. The visit provided a first hand look at how the state-of-the art facility uses cutting-edge manufacturing software and an automated assembly line to produce High Performance windows for homes. The state of the art product produced in the new factory will be helping home builders produce more energy efficient homes and create more job opportunities. These High Performance windows and doors are instrumental in ensuring JG King Homes is at the forefront of implementing changes that were established in the 2022 National Construction Code to raise the standard to 7 star homes.

It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase these amazing products and our continued commitment to creating new local employment opportunities, upskilling the local workforce and investing in regional economic development.

We're excited to continue contributing to both the local community and the broader regional economy while producing homes that contribute to a more sustainable future.

What is in the 2022 National Construction Code?

The 2022 National Construction Code (NCC) introduces significant changes in future home builds. Focusing on energy efficiency, liveable housing design, and condensation management. These changes commenced on May 1, 2024.

Energy Efficiency: New Homes must meet a 7 star energy efficiency rating and a whole of home rating.

Liveable Housing Design: The NCC puts emphasis on adding little tweaks and changes to the house plans as a regulation to make new homes more accessible and suitable for people with disabilities or mobility limitations.

Condensation Management: The new NCC introduced new provisions surrounding a better condensation management. Which results in improved indoor air quality and reducing potential health issues.
